Meet Author & Editor Kim Childress
Founded by award-winning editor, author, reviewer, and publishing strategist Kim Childress, Childress Ink was established after more than 35 years in publishing and a lifelong passion for connecting exceptional books with readers.What began as a book review and author platform has evolved into a publishing product development company, providing editorial guidance, proposal development, discoverability strategy, select literary representation, and publishing support for authors, publishers, and organizations. Childress Ink's affiliate bookstore, Ink-a-Dink Children's Bookstore, is an award-winning independent bookstore and literacy initiative founded in 2017.
Throughout her career, Kim has worn many hats—bookseller, Girls' Life Book Editor since its 1994 debut, acquisitions editor with HarperCollins Christian Publishing (Zondervan), author, speaker, reviewer, product developer, and agent. Her editorial and acquisition work includes bestselling and award-winning books by such as Bethany Hamilton, Jane Yolen, Amanda Flower, Tim Shoemaker, Kirk Cousins, Lee Strobel, Juliette Turner, and many more.
An unapologetic word nerd and lifelong book lover, Kim remains committed to seeking out and sharing books of excellence while helping more books find their readers. Through Childress Ink, Ink-a-Dink, Girls' Life, literacy partnerships, and community outreach efforts spanning 30+ years, Kim has helped place 100,000s books into the hands of readers locally, nationally, and internationally.
Kim built her career while raising a personal focus group of four children through diapers, doctors appointments, middle school, high school, broken bones, and plagues.
Ink-a-Dink Children's Bookstore is an award-winning independent bookstore and literacy initiative dedicated to connecting readers with exceptional books. A member of the American Booksellers Association, Children's Book Institute, and American Booksellers for Free Expression, Ink-a-Dink supports readers through curated recommendations, literacy partnerships, author events, educational outreach, giveaways, and community engagement. Recipient of the James Patterson Holiday Bookstore Bonus Award in 2021 and 2023, Ink-a-Dink continues its mission to instill a love of reading in future generations.
